Lincoln advanced to the Championship for the first time in 65 years with five games remaining after a 2-1 win at Reading.
Their return to the second tier marks a remarkable rise for the Imps, who were out of the league just nine years ago.
Lincoln were promoted to League Two in 2017, League One in 2019 and seven years later they will be playing Championship football for the first time since 1961.
The League One leaders under Michael Skubala are currently unbeaten in 24 games and 12 points ahead of second-placed Cardiff.
Lincoln became the first team to gain promotion from the EFL this season.
The extra-time win at Reading means the Imps have now won 27 games in League One this season, with more wins achieved during the EFL campaigns of 1975/76 (32) and 1951/52 (30).
