
Some Syrians are hopeful that their loved ones detained by Bashar al-Assad’s regime may still be alive.
Those who expressed any form of dissent were wiped out, and tens of thousands were tortured or murdered in the country’s notorious prisons.
Crowds gathered at the capital’s notorious Saydnaya prison to search for traces of their loved ones.
The Assad government collapsed due to a large-scale offensive by rebels led by the Islamic militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
