Ronnie O’Sullivan will be seeking his eighth world title and first senior world title this spring.
Ronnie O’Sullivan, who has equaled his record of seven world titles, is set to make his senior world debut at the 2026 World Senior Snooker Championships in May.
However, the 50-year-old is still expected to feature in the World Championships, which conclude two days before the start of the senior competition, both of which will be held at the Crucible.
Ronnie O’Sullivan defended his Masters title for the first time against Stephen Hendry in 1996 as the youngest ever title winner at 19 years and 69 days.
He joins an impressive senior line-up that includes 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham, 12-time women’s world champion Reanne Evans and former Masters and British champion Matthew Stevens.
Chairman Jason Francis branded O’Sullivan “the most commercially valuable player in the history of sport” and said he expected The Rocket’s involvement would boost ticket sales even further.
The senior tournament will take place from 6 to 10 May, followed by the World Championships from 18 April to 4 May.
O’Sullivan moved to Dubai last year but will spend April and May in Sheffield as he bids to win his eighth world title while playing in his 34th successive World Snooker Championships.
Changes to the rules of the senior tournament have opened the door to several players ranked in the world’s top 64 taking the opportunity.
The most successful player in the senior category with four titles is Jimmy White, while the 10-time winner of the ranking event will also take part.
It comes 25 years after he won his first World Snooker Championship, which he won in the 10th year of his professional career, at the age of 25, as O’Sullivan looks to add another record to his resume.
