British golfer Laurie Canter has turned down her PGA Tour card and joined Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf for the second time.
Canter finished seventh in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai and was one of 10 players to earn a spot on the PGA Tour.
However, by joining LIV, he will be suspended from the PGA Tour and his card will go to Daniel Brown instead.
Canter originally joined LIV at the start of the 2022 tour, ranked 28th in the standings.
In 2023, he appeared 11 times as a reserve player, replacing an injured player. Kanter began 2024 with two more appearances as a reserve for LIV before being replaced by Anthony Kim.

The 36-year-old returned to the DP World Tour and won the 2024 European Open in Germany. He became the first former LIV player to compete in the 2025 Players Championship and also competed in the Masters.
Canter joins the Majesticks squad for the 2026 LIV season, a UK-based team that started with Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson and Sam Horsfield.
Stenson failed to make the top 48 this year and was relegated, opening up a spot for Canter.”

“The growth in the league has been remarkable, and my experience in the league has made me a more complete player and multiple winner on the DP World Tour.

Tom McKibbin acquired a PGA Tour card through the DP World Tour last year and joined LIV in January.

Rory McIlroy doubts the rift in golf will be repaired because the LIV Series’ “irrational” spending has created such a gap in the sport.
There were hopes that the acrimonious split that occurred in 2021 as the Saudi breakaway league lured a number of top stars with massive contracts could be healed after a proposed merger.
But more than two and a half years after the issue was raised, the two parties appear to be no closer to a resolution.
“I think it would be better if there was unity across golf, but given what’s happened over the last few years, I think that’s going to be very difficult to do,” McIlroy said. CNBC CEO Council Forum.

Rory McIlroy has described LIV Golf’s decision to expand the event to 72 holes as ‘unusual’.
“As supporters of the traditional structure of men’s professional golf, we have to realize that we are trying to deal with people who are behaving irrationally in some ways in terms of the capital they allocate and the money they spend.
“It’s been four or five years and the revenue hasn’t come back yet, but they’re going to have to keep spending that money just to maintain what they have.
“A lot of these people’s contracts have expired. They will ask for the same number or a larger number. LIV has spent US$5-6 billion and will need to spend US$5-6 billion more to maintain its current position.
“I’m a lot more comfortable on the PGA Tour side than I am on the PGA Tour side, but who knows what could happen?”
