This civil case is being heard in Washoe County Court in Reno, Nevada.
According to The New York Times, the trial, which is scheduled to begin next week with testimony from the media mogul and his four children registered in the trust, is closed to the media. The Times first reported the dispute after obtaining a copy of the sealed court documents.
These types of family disputes often end in a settlement, although the case can be protracted if one party decides to appeal.
Prudence is the eldest child born to Mr Murdoch and his first wife, Patricia Booker.
