Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military said it had attacked a Kaluganeft Products oil depot in the Kaluga region, southeast of Moscow, with a drone overnight.
Sources told Ukrainian media the attack led to a series of explosions and fires at the site.
There was no comment from the Russian military on the attack, but regional governor Vladislav Shapsha said the remains of a drone shot down by air defenses had caused a “fire on the territory of an industrial enterprise.” He added that a total of eight drones were destroyed.
The Ukrainian military also mentioned attacks in the Bryansk and Kursk regions, but did not specify where the damage occurred.
However, Russian military bloggers said the Kalino air base in the Kursk region was attacked by eight US-supplied Attacoms missiles.
U.S. permission to use Atacms is said to be limited to this area where North Korean troops are stationed.
They are believed to have taken part in a Russian offensive aimed at driving Ukrainian forces out of a small area of the Kursk region they captured in a surprise attack last fall.
The Russian Ministry of Defense only said that eight ballistic missiles were shot down in Ukraine, but did not specify where they were shot down.
Russian forces have also been attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, creating a difficult situation as winter approaches.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The two countries are now trying to gain battlefield advantage and end the conflict before Donald Trump becomes US president in January.
He promised to end the war within hours but did not specify how.
