Have you tried salad pizza?! It’s as simple as adding a salad. to pizza. The best of both worlds, this is one of my favorite dinners all spring and summer.
Ready in 30 minutes, My recipe starts with a crispy pizza crust loaded with garlic and mozzarella cheese. Once out of the oven, top with a flavorful Italian salad of arugula, radicchio, red onion, and rich red wine vinaigrette. It is topped with savory Parmesan cheese, tangy pepperoncini, and red pepper flakes.
The fresh and tart salad is the perfect balance of rich crust and gooey cheese. If this is your first time trying salad pizza, get ready. You will want to repeat this pizza again and again this spring!

Here’s what you need to make this salad pizza recipe:
- pizza dough, of course! We typically use easy homemade pizza dough to make this recipe, and it works great. In a crisis, fresh store-bought dough is also a good option. Let it come to room temperature before stretching.
- cornflour – Prevents dough from sticking to pizza pan or baking sheet.
- fresh mozzarella cheese – Creates a rich, melty base for the salad.
- garlic – Slice it thinly and bake it right on top of the pizza to add a savory taste.
- Arugula and radicchio – This bitter vegetable becomes the base of the salad.
- red onion – Adds spicy and savory depth to salad toppings.
- Pepperoncini and Parmesan Cheese – For decoration. They add a delicious tangy and nutty flavor!
- red pepper flakes – For heat.
- And red wine vinaigrette. – Easy to make with pantry ingredients including red wine vinegar, olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, and oregano.

How to Make Salad Pizza
This salad pizza recipe has three parts.

To make pizza, Stretch the pizza dough into a large circle. Top with mozzarella and garlic and bake at 500°F to melt the cheese.
Meanwhile, make the salad. Add dressing ingredients to a bottle with a lid and shake to mix.
In a large bowl, combine the arugula, radicchio, and red onion. Drizzle with some of the dressing and toss to coat.

Recipe Variations
- If you want a more crunchy salad Use shredded iceberg or romaine lettuce instead of arugula.
- A colorful salad Add sliced red bell peppers or halved cherry tomatoes.
- For Sausage Pizza, Top the crust with pizza sauce and use partially skimmed mozzarella, which has less moisture, instead of fresh mozzarella.

This salad pizza recipe is my favorite way to make pizza at home in the spring and summer! I piled the fresh Italian salad onto a crispy crust topped with garlic and melty mozzarella cheese.
- 1 pound pizza dough, Store-bought or homemade
- cornflour, to stretch the dough
- 8 oz. fresh mozzarella cheese, torn
- 2 garlic cloves, sliced
- 2 cup arugula
- 2 cup Thinly sliced radicchio
- ½ cup thinly sliced red onion
- ½ cup Thinly sliced pepperoncini
- shaved parmesan cheese, For decoration
- red pepper flakes, to sow
Prevent your screen from going dark
- Prepare the pizza dough according to the pizza dough recipe, or if using store-bought dough, leave it at room temperature for about 1 hour and then stretch it.
Preheat oven to 500°F (or as hot as your oven goes).
Sprinkle cornmeal on a baking sheet. Place the pizza dough on a baking sheet and stretch it into a large round or oval shape. Top with mozzarella and sliced garlic.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and crust is brown.
Meanwhile, make the red wine vinaigrette. Place olive oil, red wine vinegar, honey, mustard, garlic, oregano, salt, and a few grinds of pepper in a covered jar. Cover and shake to combine.
In a large bowl, combine the arugula, radicchio, and red onion. Drizzle with a little dressing and toss to coat, adding more dressing as desired. Sprinkle the salad on top of the pizza, then top with some pepperoncini, shredded Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes.
Slice and serve.
