Glasgow Warriors came from 14-0 down to win at Sale Sharks in the opening round of the Champions Cup.

Glasgow overcame a 14-point deficit to start their Champions Cup campaign with a 26-21 win at Sale Sharks.

Sale dominated the opening quarter in difficult conditions, scoring tries from Ernst van Rhyn and substitute Ollie Davies, while Rob Du Preez added two conversions.

But the Warriors reduced the gap to 14-12 by the break with Gregor Hiddleston and Rory Darge compensating for Scotland’s forward power and Adam Hastings converting.

Glasgow were back on the attack within two minutes of the restart as Kyle Steyn collected a poor box kick for Hastings to add a further strike.

The visitors soon got a bonus point when Stafford McDowall flew down the right for Hastings to maximize again.

Sale set up a grandstand finish as Marius Louw dominated the post for a try converted by Du Preez, but Glasgow held on for an impressive away win.

Bayonne 17-26 Stormers

In the second match of the night, South Africa’s Stormers recorded an impressive 26-17 win over Bayonne, a top 14 side from France, despite a 20-minute red card for Adre Smith.

Scrumhalves Imad Khan and Paul de Villiers scored tries for the Stormers. The second attempt saw Bayonne reduced to 13 players due to two sin binnings.

The hosts scored three tries through Federico Mori, Arnaud Erbinartegaray and Lucas Paulos, but Stormers flyhalf Clinton Swart kicked four penalties in the contest which proved the difference.
