Presenter Kate Tracey joins Declan Rix and Sam Boswell on Weekend Winners to look forward to Saturday’s action at Ascot, live on Sky Sports Racing.
The Grade 1 Ascot Chase (3.35pm) takes center stage with Pic D’orhy looking to become the first horse to win the race for three consecutive years. He faces off against 12-time Grade 1 winner Jonbon in an exciting showdown.
Trained by likeable veterans Edwardstone and Moore, Blow Your Wad is set to surpass the double-digit price tag with Classic Maestro and Heltenham completing the sextet.
Declan Riggs…
“I took sides. pick dory As you know me, I like to pick a favorite in these types of races over Jonbon in this renewal. In my opinion, it’s just the price of getting more value out of the so-called two-runner races. He was dominant last year and racing the Ascot rounds has been his jam this trip.
“I think the horses out there with Jonbon and Pic D’orhy are really pot hunting and you can get a decent price here today. His last race looked poor but maybe the previous race at Wetherby took more out of him and he’s been refreshed since then.”
Host Kate Tracy…
“pick dory A year older, he expects to beat Jonbon here after a tough race at Clarence House at Ascot. The race fell to Jonbon and fell into his lap and he had no choice but to win. I’m worried because the processing speed is pretty fast.
“A phenomenal horse for the course and distance is a much better price and he has this freshness as well. I think he can dictate from the front end and get his way. I think Harry Cobden will get him into a good rhythm and will probably be difficult to pass on ground where it can be tricky to close.
Sam Boswell…
“The price shows he’s already won and that’s my only concern. Jonbon He’s been a legend in the two-mile division for many years and I think his progress on this trip will suit him well. He won at Ascot last time out at Clarence House when his fitness kicked in to get the better of Thistle Ask.
“I’m not sure his main rival Pic D’orhy will enjoy himself as he seeks his third win in the race and I hope Jonbon can get his 13th Grade 1 win in an incredible career.”
