Lando Norris said McLaren Motors is forced to drive “in a different way” at the Saudi Arabic Grand Prix this weekend.
Norris led the driver championship with three points of McLaren teammate OSCAR PIASTRI, 8 points of Red Bull’s MAX VERSTAPPEN, but was not completely satisfied with the car.
After his roller coaster drove to third place in Bahrain, the British driver said that he was “almost near” compared to last year.
Norris said on Jeddah on Thursday, “I’m trying to act differently, learn and learn.
“I have to drive in a different way from other unfamiliar ways, and it’s not normal at all. There is no guarantee.
“I don’t think I’m going out, so I will click on things and suddenly feel cool.
“But I just think that I only understand the understanding of things.
Norris scored 23 points for PiaStri after the first round. The latter rotated at his home event. But Piastri confessed the deficit with victory in China and Bahrain.
Norris spent time not to think about F1, but inevitably thought about the “difficulties” he was struggling.
He was 24 years old and didn’t explain in detail about the area he had to improve, but he thought it would not be extracted enough from the car.
“I will not be able to drive like last year. As I know well, it’s strange in the seventh season of F1.”
“But I’m still learning things. The car is clearly different from what’s going on. I have to adapt a lot in an uncomfortable way, but I’m probably reducing the pressure because I understand some of these reasons.
“I think I’m accepting more of the struggle and my challenge.”
NORRIS: My current driving style doesn’t suit my car at all.
Norris won the eight drivers last year, eight drivers, but took the play only in Australia’s season release by 2025.
Mclaren driver, who had the best results in Saudi Arabia, pointed out the qualifiers when describing the weakness after the fourth round.
“At the end of last season, my confidence level was very high, but I understood a car, not another reason. I was able to understand how to drive a car and run it perfectly.”
“Now I don’t have my feelings, so the driving method is not suitable at all, and I don’t want to know how to go out and perform in the preliminary lab.
“Last year, if you asked me, ‘Are you sure you are qualified?’, I would have been much more likely to say ‘yes’ than now.
Qualified qualifications in Jedda are one of the highlights of the calendar due to high speed and risk reward due to the proximity of the wall.
PiaStri is a driver in the form after winning a dominant victory in Bahrain and predicts that VestAppen can be a bigger factor this weekend.
“China was a limited track like Jedda, and we were still very fast, so we didn’t worry too much,” he said.
“With such a high level of grip, it has saved us for the last few years, and this year we can potentially save others.
“I expect it to be quite tight. Because it is a similar layout and track at the cornering speed of Suzukawa, we will find out if Red Bull is back from the fight. We are fast, but we look forward to it with some opposite.”
