I look forward to Sephora's VIB sales more than most holidays (even the less exciting ones like Groundhog Day and Daylight Savings Time). As a VIB-level member of the makeup brand's Beauty Insider Club (are you jealous?), you get perks like 15% off sitewide and 30% off items from the Sephora collection. Sephora tends to have VIB sales during the spring, summer, and holiday seasons. These savings events are typically only open to Beauty Insiders rewards program members, and you can sign up for free in seconds.

These days, we're expecting more than one sale.

1. Spirit Halloween the day after the Halloween sale. Last year, we had an unprecedented 50% discount across our stores. everything. As a spooky woman, this is home decor shopping season.

2. Mid-Halloween sale starting in late April/early May for online horror boutiques. This year I got a fantastic rate on an item from Life After Death Designs that I've been window shopping for since last year. And since I don't want something from Em & Sprout, I hang things there too. It pays (or saves) to be included on our notification email list.

3. Bath & Body Works Candle Day Sale! As someone who likes to keep three wicks burning at my work-from-home desk, it doesn't get any cheaper than Candle Day. The candles are limited to 24 and cost $9.95 each, so they're worth stocking up on every couple of years.

You might laugh, but…

I absolutely love Shoprite Can Can sales. It's been a biennial tradition since before I was born (I think it started in the early '70s), and it's held in the winter (usually right after the December holidays, early January) and again in July. During this sale, the supermarket chain is offering big discounts on shelf-stable items like canned tomatoes, beans, rice and pasta, as well as items like tuna and cans of broth. Sales are crazy, especially if you plan ahead and buy in bulk. This is because buying a case is cheaper than selling individual cans, for example. Canned vegetables cost about 50 cents a can, and a large can of canned tomatoes costs less than a dollar. This is a great time to stock up and I always do. It feels like such a special day!

I'm looking forward to the Cyber Monday Amazon sales! I load everything from every department onto a cart the day before or the day before. On sale day, I can't wait to click on the shopping cart to see what items are included in the sale! Amazon also recommends similar items included in the sale. So if the boots you have in your cart aren't on sale, Amazon will show you other boots you might like at a better price. It's a win-win!
