AvGeeks flying to or from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will soon have access to an observation deck, a relatively rare amenity, at least in the Pacific Northwest. Although it is airside, only ticketed passengers can use it.

The expanded concourse, now expected to open to the traveling public in the second quarter of 2026, will add more than 10 restaurants to the airport’s offerings, several new retail stores, stunning new seating and plenty of art. The signature artwork for the new space is a very large wooden sculpture of a stylized tree arched over an interesting stadium-style seating area.

But the most interesting place for the AvGeek crowd is Lookout at C, as the airport calls it. This is a glass-enclosed observation deck overlooking Hall C to the west-southwest of the main terminal, the airport’s taxiways, some gate areas, and SEA’s three runways.

The viewing area offers spectacular views of SEA's ramp area and active runway.

The Port of Seattle has a cool VR experience site for its expansion project. You can check it out here.

The list of new restaurants is also noteworthy. Bell St. Landing by Hudson; Nanny’s Barbecue; Bite Society; Olympia Coffee; Buffalo wild wing migration; submarine port; chills; Seattle Macaron Co.; Great State Burger; And wanderlust.

at "you can't have it all" Department, there are some disadvantages to taking pictures through windows. But I won't complain. Because the view from here is still amazing.

Overall, the expansion will add four floors, approximately 225,000 square feet of space and a new Alaska Airlines lounge. The new concourse also features a live music performance space, a sensory room, an interfaith prayer and meditation room, a feeding room and a pet care area.

We will keep you posted as the airport makes progress toward completing this project next year.
