The highest-grossing female athlete of all time, Williams has drawn huge crowds throughout her career and has truly transcended her sport.
Possessing one of the best serves ever in the women’s game, Williams was known for her big groundstrokes, powerful serve returns, and excellent movement.
After retirement, Williams did little exercise and gave birth to her second daughter in 2023.
Last year she told the Today show in the US that she had lost 14kg in the past eight months.
She said she had to look at her weight ‘relatively’. Despite “training five hours a day” and “running, walking, cycling and climbing stairs,” she told the show she had no choice but to “try something different.”
Williams has become a spokesperson for Ro, a company that sells GLP-1 brands such as Wegovy and Zepbound (known as Mounjaro in the UK) through weight loss programs, but has not revealed what weight loss medication she is taking. Her husband, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, is also an investor.
Williams is realizing that her hard work in the gym is paying off, and she’s training for a half marathon, saying she’s “running farther than I’ve ever run.”
