Dive Insights:
KPMG’s discovery is clear that shoppingists are stirping a rough economic situation when they wear out in 2025.
72%of the 1,516 participants who participated in the latest consumer pulse survey of the company, which were conducted from March 12 to 20, predicted that the economy would affect the recession next year, and 60%began to watch more carefully. More than 90% said their living expenses were higher than now in 2024.
27%of respondents expected to buy more foods this summer than the same period in 2024, and 60%expect that the number will not change.
When people manage the cost, 69%said they were eating more often at home instead of a restaurant. In addition, more than one -thirds said they struggled to earn money to reduce food or to pay food.
The prudent feelings appear in the way people see the food environment. Most of the research participants (70%), who believes that grocery bills will be higher in the next few months, have concluded at a higher price. More than 1/4 (28%) expects to spend more on grocery stores.
About one -quarter of the participants preferred to buy grocery stores from mass retailers, 20%pointed out national and local food points as the top choices, and 14%were attracted to local grocery stores.
This discovery also shows that breakfast is the most likely meal, dinner, and lunch that people are likely to be prepared at home.
Shoppers also pointed out that about half (49%) of the respondents said they were trying to improve their welfare, saying that they changed their concentration to health. In addition, more than one -third (36%) said they decided to eat more often at home to control more food they consumed.
