Singapore is one of those cities that really requires a bit of outfit planning. In one day, you can take yourself from the air-conditioned dome of Gardens by the Bay to the rooftop bar of Marina Bay Sands to a street food tour through Chinatown, each with dramatically different dress codes. And let’s not forget about humidity! To help you pack smarter for your trip to Singapore, here are all my Singapore outfits and the exact clothes I wore at each stop.

Singapore Outfit Ideas: What You Need to Know Before Packing
Singapore is hot and humid all year round, with humidity ranging between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius. Lightweight and breathable materials are essential. That said, many indoor attractions, hotels and restaurants are heavily air-conditioned, so wearing light clothing is always useful. Some religious and smart places have dress codes, so it’s a good idea to keep this in mind when planning your attire.

What should you wear on a street food tour in Singapore?
For my private gastronomic tour of Singapore’s hawker centers and local neighborhoods, I wore a cream linen maxi skirt set. The key to street food travel is comfort and practicality. Flat shoes are a must as you will be walking, eating and navigating the busy market area. Even in the heat, breathable, lightweight fabric is your best friend.
I wore a long skirt because I wanted to visit a Buddhist temple later. Shoulder cover-ups are provided free of charge.
What to Wear for a Walk: Singapore Outfit Ideas
Planning your Singapore outfit for day and night starts with the non-negotiables. That means the heat and humidity can be harsh, so lightweight, breathable fabrics like linen, cotton, and bamboo are everything. Whether you’re exploring Chinatown, strolling Gardens by the Bay, wandering around the marina or shopping on Orchard Road, the key is to stay stylish without overheating.

A linen co-ord or cotton sundress and flat sandals strike the perfect balance between comfort and style for a long day out walking, while a lightweight button-down shirt tucked into tailored shorts can give you a more put-together look. Neutral tones and soft pastel colors blend beautifully with Singapore’s colorful street art and architecture, making it a smart choice if you want a photo-worthy outfit.
Comfortable sandals or supportive sneakers are essential for long walks, and for air-conditioned shopping malls and attractions, it’s worth packing a light layer.

What to wear to Gardens by the Bay, Singapore
Gardens by the Bay is one of the most photographed locations in Singapore and offers something for all levels. It’s a really welcome escape from the heat and not the crowds. We visited Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. For this I wore a long sleeve satin top, a matching top, and a matching set of shorts. The dome cools down to around 23 degrees Celsius, so it is recommended to wear long sleeves or light clothing if you feel cold inside.
Singapore Outfit Ideas for the Evening: What to Wear at Ce La Vie Singapore
Ce La Vie at Marina Bay Sands is one of Singapore’s best sunset spots and the dress code ranges from smart casual to dressy. For our sunset drinks I wore a chic polka dot maxi dress. The flat floor makes a smart pair of sandals or heels perfect, and your efforts will be appreciated when you take a photo with the Singapore skyline in the background.
What to Wear at Lavo Singapore?
We went to dinner at Lavo at Marina Bay Sands right after Ce La Vie, and since we needed to be a little more dressed up, we dressed up a little more for the night. The polka dot dresses looked great on both of them. The ambiance is an upscale Italian vibe with amazing views, so this is your chance to show off something more sophisticated.
What to Wear at Raffles Singapore: Dinner and Cocktails
Dinner at Raffles Courtyard and drinks at the famous Long Bar are Singapore specialties. The setting is iconic, colonial and beautifully preserved, so the costumes have to match. They can obviously dress much more casually than we can. I love an excuse to dress up. There is no dress code at Raffles Courtyard, but “the ambience of Raffles Courtyard is tropical, outdoor and sophisticated, with a more relaxed and airy feel.” Meanwhile, Raffles’ dress code at The Long Bar states, “Smart casual attire is encouraged to ensure seamless access throughout the hotel.”
I wore this blue satin gown at The Long Bar and Raffles Courtyard and honestly it felt amazing and to me it was all about the outfit choice and fashion. She styled it with wedges and a cream-colored clutch that matched her shoes as she walked out of the JW Marriott Hotel. I kept the jewelry simple because the dress did all the heavy lifting. Many people were wearing shorts and tank tops, and there’s a reason these magazines are called ‘Glamour’ and Gains. I always prefer being overdressed to underdressed.
What to wear to Sentosa Island, Singapore
Traveling to Sentosa Island by cable car is a more relaxing outdoor experience. To be comfortable and as cool as possible, I wore a white vest top, tailored white shorts, and lightweight, washable sneakers. Since you’re outside and on the go, something comfortable and casual suits you perfectly.

What should I wear to the JW Marriott Singapore pool?
JW Marriott Singapore South Beach’s rooftop pool offers panoramic views of the skyline, so it’s worth giving a little thought to the shape of the pool. I wore a blue Zimmermann swimsuit with gold trim, a matching blue cover-up, coordinating gold leather sandals, and oversized sunglasses for UV protection.

What to pack for Singapore: Packing tips
What to pack and what to leave out after spending four days in Singapore:
Bring a small, non-branded crossbody bag or shoulder bag for street food tours and walks. Although Singapore is very safe, having a hands-free bag makes navigating the markets much easier.
What shoes to wear in Singapore: I wear comfortable sandals that can handle both walking and smarter evening environments. Block heels and wedges for the evening. You could only pack one, but since this was part of a three week trip, we needed an option. If you plan on walking a lot, pack sneakers too. I was blown away by mine.
White and bright colors shoot beautifully against Singapore’s green and glass architecture, but be mindful of humidity and pack Tide Stain Remover Wipes if you’re prone to wardrobe mishaps.
Always pack light clothing if you plan to visit indoor, heavily air-conditioned attractions. I bought a cover-up scarf from a local boutique that I could roll up and store in my bag.

Don’t forget mosquito repellent, bug spray, and a hat if you tend to get burns on your face or head.
The hotel had a hair dryer, but I packed a Dyson because it was much faster and I have a lot of curly hair. However, it was so humid that I only used it twice over 3 weeks, so if you have hair like mine, don’t pack it.
