The web3 gaming ecosystem Pixelverse has completed a bold heist by moving one of Solana’s most beloved memes to Telegram. The move was initiated with the support of Mew’s creator, but it is nonetheless the first time Solana’s main character has been introduced to TON.
Mew, the face of the eponymous Solana catcoin, is now ready to make her debut in the Telegram-based mini-game that Pixelverse has become synonymous with. This is a cross-chain collaboration that benefits both ecosystems, demonstrating Solana’s importance in the concept of long-lived meme characters while also giving TON a familiar face.
Mew prepares to meet Doge
When integrated into Pixelverse, the Mew token itself will not be transferred. Rather, only the IP will go on a journey. The brave cat-style Mew character will be reborn within the Pixelverse mini-game, which features well-known characters such as Doge, who is already famous for Dogecoin.
Pixelverse has been a huge success as a mini-game, and it proved to be a case of the right format and the right time. Within a month of its launch on Telegram, more than 50 million users tried Pixelverse games, taking advantage of the social network’s unrivaled user base that includes hundreds of millions of cryptocurrency users.
Pixelverse’s gamers have not only found a cult following among players, but have also caught the attention of VCs. Last month, web3 Entertainment Studios completed a $5.5 million seed round, which has seen companies like Delphi Ventures and Merit Circle show a strong commitment to web3 games.
TON takes off
The Telegram Open Network (TON) has seen explosive growth recently, with the number of active wallet addresses increasing dramatically since April. Telegram’s introduction of ad revenue sharing paid in TON has brought increased attention to the native asset, bringing more creators and influencers into the TON ecosystem. April has been a fruitful month for TON overall, with the launch of USDT on the decentralized network, bringing the stablecoin to hundreds of millions of new users.
TON is now showing what other social networks like X and Meta could have looked like if their tentative forays into cryptocurrencies and blockchain had evolved into something more concrete. While Meta’s attempt to launch its own stablecoin was thwarted by regulators and Elon Musk appears to have moved on from the cryptocurrency frenzy, Telegram has quietly begun integrating TON into its messenger app, which is now the crypto space’s de facto communication medium.
Tap-to-Earn is the trend
Another reason for TON’s success is the rise of so-called ‘Tap-to-Earn’ games, which reward users for completing certain tasks. Pixelverse and Notcoin are at the forefront of this trend, providing incentives for users to stay active and engage with their favorite apps and games regularly.
As Mew prepares to make his debut on Telegram, it seems like nothing can slow down the momentum that has helped turn TON and the Pixelverse into a force to be reckoned with. If the integration is successful, expect to see other meme characters debuting in Telegram minigames soon.
