SoMon, a decentralized Web3 forum with a vision to create a space for user-owned content and connections, recently launched its app on Base and has become the most active and fastest-growing social app in the Web3 space, surpassing 300K on-chain transactions in just 14 days since launch.
SoMon is short for Social Monster and allows users to create and monetize communities (Tribes) around their favorite topics, passions, creators, and fandoms. It is the first app built on the OpenSocial Protocol, a composable infrastructure layer for building social applications, and the first truly gas-free Web3 social app, lowering the barrier to entry and onboarding users beyond the crypto community.
It has been about a month since the mobile app was launched on June 19, 2024, and in just two weeks, it has amassed over 30,000 on-chain registrations. Today, the community is growing rapidly, with over 2 million social engagements across 300+ different tribes (communities) and 80,000+ users.

Users will create content, and the platform will monetize it through a tool called ‘Megaphone’. Users will pay for promotional visibility, and the revenue will be redistributed to tribe owners and stakeholders.
SoMon is currently in its first season, which will end on July 31, 2024. In this season, users will earn points through interactions, climb up various leagues, and compete to earn badges. At the end of the season, SoMon will officially launch its community token, $OwO, which will be airdropped to the community at the end of the first season, with the first airdrop releasing 3% of the total supply on August 1, 2024, and 1% of the total supply in subsequent seasons.
In the upcoming season, SoMon will focus on activating the community economy through the Tribe Summer campaign, allowing users to create and participate in bot-free communities.
