Son of Norway’s crown princess continues to give evidence in rape trial

The son of Norway’s crown princess is due back in court in Oslo on Thursday for the third day of his trial on charges of rape and more than 30 other crimes.

On Wednesday, Marius Borg Høiby, 29, told the court he had been living a partying life because he desperately needed validation.

He gave evidence after telling the court he ‘100%’ believed the first woman he accused of raping had taken drugs at an ‘after-party’ held in the basement of Hoibee’s parents’ home in December 2018.

He denies four rape charges and other serious allegations against him.

Born four years before her mother Mette-Marit married Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, the 29-year-old defendant grew up not as a royal or public figure but as part of a wider family.

The BBC’s Paul Kirby reports from outside the Oslo court.
