The Spanish police said they arrested 19 people who were suspected of murder and torture after more than 50 people were missing from Senegal to the Canary Islands.
The police suspect that some of the victims have accused the “witch” after several events during their trip, including engine failures, bad weather and lack of food.
Spanish national police said the wooden ship was rescued south of Gran Canaria on August 24, Spanish police said.
But the officials believe that about 300 were originally on the boat and some were thrown out of the stomach.
The survivors said the police told the police that some of their fellow passengers were “attacking dozens of people, hitting and abuse of them in various ways,” the police said.
“In some cases, they threw immigrants into the sea and refused to rescue people who accidentally fell.”
The suspected murder also said, “Some people simply recorded a suspected murder because some people expressed their complaints about the conditions of sailing or complained.
According to the police, a male passenger died in the hospital after a ship was severely ill.
According to local media, local media reported that people from Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Gambia, Sierra Leon and Guinea-Bissau were boarded.
All 19 suspects are detained before trials accused of promoting irregular immigration, murder, assault and torture.
Spain is one of the forefront entry for irregular migration to Europe, and most of them enter the Canary Islands.
Spanish Minister of Home Affairs said in 2024 that nearly 47,000 immigrants reached the archipelago for two years, but it was much lower until this year.
