A Spanish study found that Staphylococcus aureus caused the most outbreaks, while Clostridium perfringens was behind the largest number of incidents.

Researchers evaluated bacterial toxin-related outbreaks reported to the Spanish National Surveillance Network (RENAVE) between 2015 and 2023. Pathogens included Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens, and Staphylococcus aureus.
