this Spicy Pickle Margarita It’s a true pickle lover’s dream. Tangy dill pickle juice combines with tequila, triple sec, fresh lime and spicy jalapeño slices to create a bold, refreshing and addictive cocktail. If you love pickles, this will be your new margarita recipe.

Why You’ll Love This Spicy Pickle Margarita
A while ago, I had a genius idea in the studio to create another pickle-based cocktail. If you didn’t know, I’m a huge fan of dill pickles and pickle juice is a really great mix-in for cocktails.
This Spicy Pickle Margarita is made simply with traditional margarita ingredients like lime juice, tequila, and triple sec, but we added dill pickle juice and jalapenos for a fancy (and spicy!) twist. It has a salty, tangy taste and just the right amount of calories. Perfect for summer happy hour or whenever you’re craving something bold.
If you love margaritas as much as I do, be sure to try the classic version of the Ultimate Margarita or the Spicy Grapefruit Margarita for another jalapeno-infused twist.
- Pickle Juice: Butter pickles can be a little too sweet, so I prefer dill pickle juice. I use Claussen Kosher dill pickles.
- tequila: I used my favorite tequila, Espolon Blanco. A good blanco tequila works best here.
- Triple seconds: Any type of orange liqueur will work. Cointreau is also a good choice.
- Jalapeño: If you like it spicy, save the seeds. If you don’t like a lot of spices, leave them out.
- lime juice: Fresh lime juice, please. It makes a big difference! If you need tips for other recipes, check out our simple syrup guide for tips.
How to Make a Spicy Pickle Margarita
These pickle juice margaritas are ready in just minutes. No blender required! Here’s the quick version:
- Shake it: Add tequila, triple sec, pickle juice, jalapeño slices, and lime juice to cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until cool enough.
- Create a border: Mix Lori seasoning and cayenne pepper in a dish. Place lime slices around the rim of the glass and dip into the spice mixture.
- Pour and decorate: Fill the glass with ice, pour in the margarita, and garnish with pickle slices, jalapeno slices, and lime wedges.
It depends on how spicy you like the jalapenos. If you don’t like it too spicy, be sure to remove all the seeds. If you like a ton of spice – add the seeds to the shaker! You can also add more or less jalapeño slices to adjust the heat level.
Wondering if pickle juice actually works in margaritas? Trust me. It works! Pickle brine adds a salty, tangy depth that balances perfectly with the tequila and citrus. The heat of the jalapeño combines with a spicy and salty edge to create a flavorful twist on this surprisingly refreshing classic. Think of it like a dirty martini meets a margarita.
entirely! My secret is to add a little vinegar to your N/A drink to give it the same kick you get from alcohol. So skip the tequila and triple sec and add about 1/2 ounce. Drink some orange juice and go! Pickle juice still offers plenty of flavor and complexity.
The Best Pickles for Pickle Margaritas
I prefer dill pickles in this recipe. The salty garlic flavor makes this Spicy Pickle Margarita so delicious. I used Claussen Kosher dill pickles. Avoid sweet pickles or bread-and-butter pickles, as the sweetness can upset the balance. If you like pickles, try my Spicy Corn Dill Pickle Dip or Dill Pickle White Bean Salad.
