SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn crew has returned to Earth five days after entering orbit to complete a historic mission that marked the world’s first commercial spacewalk.
The Dragon capsule splashed down off the coast of Florida just after 3:37 a.m. EDT (7:37 a.m. GMT), in an event streamed live by SpaceX.
“Dragon Splashdown is confirmed! Welcome back to Earth,” SpaceX said on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The U.S. space agency NASA said the mission represents a “giant leap” for the commercial space industry.
