Earn points called “stars” with every purchase and have access to all kinds of exclusive benefits, including special promotions where you can earn bonus stars.
Another good reason to join a rewards program is that Starbucks sometimes offers instant win games where you can win free stars, drinks, gift cards, and more. You must become a member to receive these rewards, so sign up for a free account!
How do Starbucks Rewards work?
To get started, create a rewards account. You can do this online or through the Starbucks app. Members earn stars on every order (excluding gift cards) and have many opportunities to earn bonus stars.
Members earn one star for every dollar spent. As they accumulate stars, they can redeem them for free food and drinks. Members also receive a free birthday gift each year, and free refills of brewed coffee and tea in the store!
What is the Starbucks App?
Starbucks Rewards and the Starbucks app work together, and using the app makes your Starbucks Rewards experience even more rewarding. When you preload money through the app, you’ll earn two stars instead of one for every dollar you spend. It’s much easier to discover and take advantage of exclusive double or triple star promotions or BOGO happy hour drinks.
The app allows rewards members to customize drinks and order mobile pickup from local cafes. The app also makes it very easy to track how many stars you've earned, how many you've redeemed, and when they expire. For an easy payment experience, app users can link payment cards, integrate Starbucks gift cards, and send Starbucks gift cards to friends, family, coworkers, or anyone!
Can I receive other bonuses from my Starbucks Rewards account?
Yes! If you have a Delta SkyMiles account, you can sync it with your Starbucks Rewards account to earn 1 mile per dollar spent (and double the points on Delta travel days). Meanwhile, Bank of America members can link their Starbucks Rewards account to earn 2% cash back and bonus stars on eligible in-app purchases! Do Starbucks Rewards expire?
Unfortunately, it is. Stars (points used to redeem rewards) expire 6 months after you earn them. Fortunately, when redeeming stars for rewards, the oldest stars are applied, reducing the chance of them expiring before you can use them. Sign up for your email from Starbucks to be notified when your star expires soon.

- 25 stars: Redeem for a free milk substitute, syrup or extra shot of espresso.
- 100 stars: Enjoy a complimentary coffee, iced coffee or tea, grab-and-go snacks, baked goods (like cake pops or cookies), a 24oz Siren Logo Plastic To-Go Cold Cup or a 16oz Siren Logo Plastic Hot Cup.
- 200 stars: Enjoy a complimentary craft beverage (cold brew, latte, etc.) or a hot breakfast menu.
- 300 stars: Enjoy a free protein box, salad, sandwich, or take home a bag of coffee!
- 400 stars: Choose from signature mugs, tumblers, and coffee products (pay the difference if over $20).

As mentioned above, you can earn 2 stars per dollar by topping up your Starbucks card and paying directly in the app. You can also search for rewards if you pay with a card or cash, and you’ll earn 1 star per dollar. Bring your own reusable Starbucks cup and save 10 cents on every purchase!
