A well-cooked and perfectly seasoned turkey is the centerpiece of most Thanksgiving tables, celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November. With most stores closed again on Thanksgiving, guests will have more time to graze in the kitchen. This means having everything stocked up and ready to go. Add up all the extra aspects and modifications and you’ll likely blow up your grocery budget next month.
According to USDA’s 2024 National Turkey Retail Report, total turkey prices last year were about $1.49 per pound, which is significantly higher than the same period in 2021 when turkey prices were about $1.23 per pound. So finding ways to save money and provide your family with a feast fit for a king should be your top priority ahead of the holiday season.
Luckily, many retailers are offering free turkeys in November to loyalty rewards program members or customers who meet minimum spending criteria. Most of these programs are free to join (except warehouse and subscription plans), and to get a free turkey, you just have to cash in those loyalty points or spend a minimum amount.

From now until November 28th, Acme is giving away a free frozen turkey on Thanksgiving when you spend at least $300 in store and clip a digital coupon. BJ Wholesale Club
From November 1 to November 14, BJ shoppers who spend $150 or more on the same transaction both in-store and online (earn +1% cash back) receive a free digital coupon for Turkey Butterballs (fresh or frozen) worth up to $25. Free Butterball Turkey coupons are available in the Coupon Gallery from November 16th through November 27th through the BJs app and BJs.com (Until stock runs out). Turkeys must be picked up or delivered no later than November 27th.

Many grocery stores are offering “anti-inflation” Thanksgiving meals. Here are some products that have revealed their Thanksgiving prices:
Aldi
On October 16, Aldi announced that it would “offer the cheapest Thanksgiving baskets in five years.” From October 16 to November 27, Aldi shoppers will enjoy price cuts of up to 50% storewide, including seasonal favorites like gravy, potatoes, green beans, cranberries and pumpkin pie, as well as staples like butter and flour. You can experience it.

Now through November 30th, save $50 on a Fortune Gourmet Thanksgiving dinner that serves 8 at Costco. This includes a 5-pound turkey breast, stuffing (2 pounds), mashed potatoes (2 pounds), turkey gravy (24 ounces), macaroni and cheese (2 pounds), and an 8-inch pie. Walmart is once again offering discounts on holiday meal prep. Prices, which run from October 17 to December 24, will be significantly lower than last year. Last year, Walmart offered two Thanksgiving meal options. One is for customers who like to cook from scratch and the other is for customers who prefer a ready-to-bake option. Holiday favorites include turkey, ham, stuffing and pumpkin pie for less than $1 per pound.
