Toulouse Olympique claimed bragging rights in the French derby by scoring 10 tries in a 60-18 win over the Catalan Dragons.
The first French-Magic WKND took place at the Stade Pierre-Fabre, with Toulouse claiming their biggest win of the year and fifth of the Super League season.
Luke Polselli, Mathieu Jussaume, Brendan Hands and Olly Ashall-Bott each scored twice for Toulouse, while Thomas Lacans and Paul Ulberg also got on the scoresheet as their side move six points clear of Huddersfield Giants, who are bottom of the Super League.
Kruise Leeming, Matthieu Laguerre and Toby Sexton were the scorers for the Catalans, who suffered a heavy defeat at Castres which left them eighth and six points out of a play-off place.
Polselli opened the scoring for Toulouse after six minutes, but the Catalans went ahead 12-8 midway through the first half, with Toulouse scoring four tries in a remarkable 11 minutes to take a 20-point half-time advantage.
Sexton converted his try three minutes into the second half to raise the Catalans’ hopes of a comeback, but Ashall-Bott’s 53rd-minute score and Ulberg’s try restored Toulouse’s lead four minutes later.
Ashall-Bott added a second goal in the 63rd minute, while two late Shorrock tries in the 71st and 75th minutes increased the margin of victory for Sylvain Houles’ side.
The all-French match was the only Magic weekend game not played at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, with three games played on Saturday and three more on Sunday.
