England made it to the Super 8?
They certainly did.
A rain-affected game against Scotland in Barbados – a 36-run defeat by Australia in which the opposition reached 90-0 in 10 overs due to bowling and fielding errors – before the weather took the final decision. They gave away as many as 70 runs in the first five overs.
Jos Buttler's side's hopes of progressing to the next stage were hanging by a thread but they dismantled Oman. They demolished the combined nation for 47 before completing the run chase in just 19 balls, crucially putting their net run rate above Scotland's.
They then beat Namibia in the rain on Saturday in Antigua to comfortably win 41 points 10-1 in the DLS after initially fearing the end of the tournament, before attention turned to Australia v Scotland in St Lucia time. later.
Australia wins and England is done. Everything else is gone.
Buttler's boys would have been even more anxious when Scotland were 180-5 and Australia needed 89 runs from the last seven overs. But the 2021 champions went into overdrive with Travis Head (68 points, 49 points) and Marcus Stoinis (59 points). 29) and Tim David (24 off 14) led Australia to victory with two balls to spare.
After many fears, England advanced.
