Tapbots bothers the new Bluesky app, Phoenix.

There is a new Bluesky app in the works of the popular developers of iOS applications. TAPBOTS, a company of popular MASTODON Client Ivory, born in early efforts with Tweetbot (RIP), is preparing a new app called Phoenix, designed for social networks consisting of more than 33 million users of Bluesky.

In BlueSky’s post, the company has bothered a new app by sharing the website, which is expected to be released late this summer.

Tapbots does not mean that the work on Bluesky customers on the site gives up efforts in the Fediverse, which is also called Open Social Web. But as new efforts progress, the development of ivory will be temporarily slow.

Launched in 2023, Ivory has regained the exterior, feelings and features of the Twitter boats and has some features to provide Mastodon’s official social app, open source and distributed alternatives to larger platforms such as X. As a united app, IVORY is integrated with Activity Pub, and Protocol is to power the host of social apps, including Mistodon, as well as PIX, Streats, and Streats, and Streats, and Stread, MoteFold, and Stread. etc.

On the other hand, Bluesky is based on other protocols, AT protocols (or short atProto).

Since Twitter by Elon Musk, many previous Twitter users have moved to other networks, including Mastodon and Bluesky. In the case of indie operations such as tapbots, the customer base is divided into two services, making it more difficult to make money as a single app.

Tapbots shared on the website. “Unfortunately, we can’t only survive in Mastodon.”

The company also explains that instead of combining two networks with one app, we decided to launch a dedicated app for Bluesky users. This is because it will provide a better experience for users. Those who want to maintain their existence on both social networks will be able to take advantage of the planned cross posts.

Unfortunately, for MASTODON users, the team must slow to release Phoenix.

The website explains: “But we didn’t want to start developing Phoenix until we launched Ivory V2.3. If Phoenix opens the door, development will occur at the same time, and both apps can get big improvements planned throughout the app. ”

The news of Phoenix was first reported by MacStories.

The company has not announced Phoenix’s revenue creation strategy, but it will be a subscription model similar to ivory, a free app with an in -app purchase for access to premium functions. The current ivory is $ 1.99 a month or $ 14.99 per year.

Phoenix will enter the public alpha stage, which is limited before the launch of the summer of 2025.
