McIlroy’s Boston Common takes on Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday at the SoFi Center, ranked first and fourth, respectively, in the SoFi Cup standings.
The world number two said ‘we’ll see’ when asked whether he would play in Sunday’s semi-final after a disappointing title defense and overcoming a back injury at The Players, but he headlined the Boston Common alongside Adam Scott and last year’s Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley.
Akshay Bhatia, Max Homa and Tom Kim will represent the Jupiter Links, with Woods once again watching from the sidelines but yet to appear since undergoing another back surgery last October.
Woods said earlier this year that he would like to compete in the TGL this season, but his recent absence will likely raise questions about his attempt to return for next month’s Masters.
The 50-year-old has previously hinted he is targeting a return at Augusta National, which would be his first major appearance since The Open in July 2024, and Woods is likely to be asked about the progress of his injury in Tuesday’s semi-final.
The previous semifinal saw Atlanta Drive GC continue their bid for back-to-back TGL titles against Los Angeles Golf Club, with both teams changing after a busy marquee event on the PGA Tour.
England pair Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood represent Los Angeles GC with Sahith Theegala missing Collin Morikawa after withdrawing from the Players after just one hole due to a back injury.
Patrick Cantlay, Chris Gotterup and Billy Horschel represent Atlanta Drive GC. Justin Thomas sits out after returning from a four-month injury layoff with back-to-back PGA Tour events.

The winner of both matches will advance to next week’s best-of-three final series, with the opening match taking place at 9pm on Monday 23 March (1am on Tuesday 24 March UK time).
