Listen, I love mashed potatoes as much as the next person, but sometimes you just need a little freshness in your dish before you can have that third scoop. This Thanksgiving salad is crunchy, colorful, a little nostalgic, and honestly irresistible.
We’re celebrating everything from crunchy leafy greens packed with fall produce to kids’ favorite “salads that are basically desserts.”
The Greens joined the chat.
We all know that Thanksgiving plates usually seem like carbs upon carbs, and honestly, we love it. But is it a Thanksgiving salad? Leave space on the table. It offers crunch, color, and just enough freshness to make a second scoop of mashed potatoes taste even better.
Think crunchy apples, sweet and sour cranberries, creamy cheese, candied nuts, and fluffy whipped “salads” that have been in the family for longer than fancy serving platters. Basically, when it comes to fall flavor and personality, it belongs right next to turkey.
A few Thanksgiving salad tips before tossing.
Set aside the crunches. : Nuts, croutons, seeds, bacon… Add it right before eating to prevent it from getting soggy.
Add fruit at the last minute : Apples, pears, and tangerines taste best when fresh.
Just prepare the dressing : Make the dressing in advance, but don’t throw the salad away until it’s time to eat it. Crunchiness is key. Store the dressing in a container in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Fluff salad is important today : Whipped topping, jello, crushed pretzels… It’s all important. This is a safe space.
We are not here to judge, but to have fun.
