Mexico has deployed thousands of soldiers to bolster security as violence erupts across the country following the death of a powerful drug lord.
Defense Minister Ricardo Treville said an additional 2,500 soldiers had been sent to western Mexico, bringing the total since Sunday to 9,500.
On Sunday, Nemesis Oseguera Cervantes, better known as ‘El Mencho’, died in custody after being captured by Mexican special forces in Jalisco.
