The beloved Barbados resort has reopened as a Marriott all-inclusive hotel with a CAMP kids club and swim-up waterfall bar.

Marriott International’s Caribbean strategy continues to expand, with Barbados becoming one of the most important regions.

Barbados’ Crystal Cove, A Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resort has officially opened on the island’s west coast, becoming the first all-inclusive hotel under Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio brand.

The 88-room resort represents another step in Marriott’s continued integration of its existing brands into the all-inclusive space. This is a segment in which the company has been expanding aggressively throughout the Caribbean.

And the number of rooms is a bit misleading. Despite having 88 rooms, it has a much smaller, boutique feel. It fits the classic concept of a Barbados resort with a modern, all-inclusive spin.

The opening also begins a year in which Marriott’s presence on the island will grow again. Later this year, Autograph Collection brand Royalton Vessence will debut in Barbados. caribbean journal Previously reported marks the addition of another luxury all-inclusive property on the company’s West Coast, with Turtle Beach, another former Elegant Hotels property, also scheduled to reopen in 2026.

Taken together, these projects highlight how seriously Marriott is investing in Barbados and how all-inclusive has become central to its regional growth model.

Barbados becomes a key comprehensive hub

Marriott’s Caribbean all-inclusive expansion has primarily focused on reimagining existing resorts under its global brands, combining a recognized loyalty platform with a turnkey pricing model that continues to attract strong demand.

Barbados, long known for its independent hotels and stylish beach properties, has not historically been defined by large, inclusive clusters like destinations like Jamaica or the Dominican Republic. That’s changing.

The relaunch of Crystal Cove under the Tribute Portfolio banner adds lifestyle-oriented and design-conscious options to the island’s Platinum Coast. Here, calm turquoise waters and gently sloping coastlines continue to draw visitors year after year. The soon-to-launch Royalton Vessence, which joins Marriott’s Autograph Collection, will further enhance that aisle with a concentrated concentration of the Marriott family’s comprehensive inventory.

Barbados offers an increasingly attractive combination of strong airlift, a stable tourism reputation, high repeat visits and a sophisticated traveler profile that matches well with top luxury brands.

First Tribute Portfolio

Tribute Portfolio has traditionally positioned itself as a collection of independent, character-driven hotels. Crystal Cove is the brand’s first step into the all-inclusive category, combining a “community of character” ethos with a bundled resort format.

Brian King, President, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International, described the launch as a significant milestone for both the brand and the region, emphasizing that Tribute Portfolio’s emphasis on individuality and creativity translates seamlessly to the Caribbean beach environment.

The 88 guest rooms feature bright color palettes, textured finishes and open gathering spaces. Three lagoon-style swimming pools anchor the layout, surrounded by leafy terraces and informal seating clusters where guests can circulate rather than relax.

All rooms and suites offer sea or garden views. The interior balances modern finishes with subtle local touches to maintain a relaxed rather than formal feel. The scale remains intentionally intimate compared to its larger Caribbean all-inclusive offerings, and is in keeping with Tribute Portfolio’s boutique identity.

Dining beyond the main restaurant

Crystal Cove’s culinary program is centered around two main restaurants and a coffee and wine bar, all included in the all-inclusive rate.

High Tie Bar serves as a dining venue and social hub with a focus on classic Bajan and Caribbean cuisine, set against a backdrop of ocean views. Artisan Restaurant offers a chef-curated format that combines market-style service with à la carte cuisine. The menu alternates between international favorites and regional specialties, maintaining variety without being overly expansive.

Vista Terrace Coffee & Wine Bar offers a more casual setting for espresso, tea and evening wine service with panoramic views of the coastline.

One of the property’s long-standing features, the Cave Bar remains the centerpiece of the experience. The swim-up bar is located behind a cascading waterfall and can be accessed from the pool or terrace area and continues to serve as a defining architectural element of the resort. This is one of our favorite things about this resort, dating back to when we first stayed here over 10 years ago.

As part of the Barbados Collection Dine Around Program, guests have access to participating sister hotels, expanding dining options beyond Crystal Cove’s immediate footprint.

Programming built around interaction

Crystal Cove’s positioning is aimed at travelers who prefer an active, sociable atmosphere rather than a purely resort-style stay.

Motorized and non-motorized water sports are included, from kayaking and sailing to snorkeling and water skiing. The calm sea conditions on the west coast are ideal for these activities, especially for guests who prefer calm surf.

The resort’s kids’ club is operated in partnership with CAMP, a company known for its hands-on, creativity-based programming. Side note: If you’re a parent, you know how much your kids love this store. For example, I love the store in New York City. This is especially true when you take over a store with a theme. Marriott’s partnership with CAMP is a very cool and innovative resort programming partnership.

A newly designed fitness center with Life Fitness equipment will help you maintain your exercise routine, while meeting space for up to 70 people can host boutique corporate retreats and social events.

The overall atmosphere is designed to feel open and connected. The shared spaces are interconnected with the bar and terrace acting as a natural gathering place.

Marriott’s All-Inclusive Momentum Depending on the Situation

Crystal Cove’s opening is part of a broader pattern.

Over the past few years, Marriott has included a comprehensive version of its brands across the Caribbean in its portfolio, from the Autograph Collection to the Royalton brand assets. Rather than launching an entirely new brand identity, Marriott integrated all-inclusive into its existing brand family, allowing guests to earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points within a bundled resort environment.

This strategy has proven effective in capturing loyalty-driven travelers who may have previously booked outside of the Marriott ecosystem when choosing an all-inclusive stay.

Barbados now joins destinations such as Jamaica, St. Lucia and the Caribbean coast of Mexico as a focal point of expansion.

Royalton Vessence, which will join the Autograph Collection later this year, will further solidify Marriott’s presence on the Island. As Caribbean Journal previously reported, this project is another luxury and design-forward addition to Barbados’ growing all-inclusive mix.

Together, Crystal Cove and Royalton Vessence demonstrate how Marriott doesn’t limit all-inclusive to one brand tier or one traveler style. Instead, it is deploying multiple brands to capture different demand segments.

How to get there

Crystal Cove is approximately a 30-minute drive (depending on traffic) from Grantley Adams International Airport, the main gateway to Barbados.

The airport offers non-stop service to major cities in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as connections to other Caribbean islands. Travelers from the East Coast of the United States can generally reach Barbados in less than five hours, while flights from London average about eight hours.
