A U.S. representative has introduced legislation to improve the safety of infant formula. Among other things, companies must notify the FDA of positive test results for pathogens.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CN) introduced the Infant Formula Safety Modernization Act following an outbreak of infant botulism that sickened 48 babies and sent them all to hospitals for treatment.
