For more than 10 years after the murder of Agnes Wanjiru, a 21 -year -old mother in Kenya, Kenya has issued arrest warrants to the British people. If there is India, this is the first time that serving or former British soldiers will be sent abroad for the first time and are judged for murder of civilians.
She was missing on March 31, 2012, Agnes came out with her friend A and her friend B..
Agnes and Friends A were 21 -year -old new mother and both wanted to take off the steam.
My friend B also wanted to go out, and I agreed to meet them at the bar of Lions Court Hotel, located in the business district of Nanaki, a central Kenyaki center, about 124 miles (200 km) north of Nairobi.
That evening, his mother’s mother agreed to watch Agnes’ five -month -old daughter for a small baby sheet. As childcare settled, Agnes and friends started and created their first stop at Sherlock ‘S.
Friends A said, “There were a lot of men.”
The British have a permanent training support base on Naki Key, and many soldiers were familiar. The locals called them Johnnies.
“They made it uncomfortable because they heard bad things about the man.”
“Muzungus doesn’t treat Kenyan women well.
For young women like Agnes, the risk of relationships with men often measured the weight against the struggle to achieve the goal.
Friends A said, “I will do almost everything to survive when women are financially desperate.” I do not believe that Agnes is a sex worker. I have never seen her doing so. She was very poor. “
Her friends say that on a good day, Agnes can earn about 300 Kenya sealing. £ 1 ($ 1.35). There was nothing at all on a bad day, and she relied on her beloved sister’s goodwill.
Agnes says he did not receive financial support from his father’s father, and his friends constantly tried to make money, and most of them worked in salons and sometimes turned their hair into more non -traditional means.
One way, friend A recall was simple. AGNES becomes a friend with a person who suggested to buy a drink and asks the bartender to skip the drink and hand over the cash.
That night, at the bar of Sherlock, friend A scrolled Facebook when he found Agnes, who seemed to be tense with a white man.
“When I approached her to ask her if she was okay, she told me to go to Lions Court as planned. And she would soon be with me.”
Friends A continued to be a hotel where friends B and others are already dancing. There were also white men.
Agnes later joined them for a while.
She told her friends that she tried to take the wallet of Muzungu, but the guards intervened. Her friends seemed to have solved the problem. And for her friends, Agnes looked comfortable.
Friends A said, “She was in a high spirit.”
At midnight, friend A leaves home and his friend B, Agnes and friends are dancing.
“Muzungus was buying a drink for us and Agnes was returning money to a bar in return,” Friend B added. The two began to mix with other friends. After a while, Friends B said that Agnes saw that he left a bar with one of the white people and assumed they had an agreed contract. Another report shows that Agnes is leaving with two people.
The next morning, my friend B went to Agnes’ house and saw a worried sister. She ran to her mother’s house and found that Agnes’ baby was still cared for.
In the early evening that Agnes hasn’t returned yet, his friend B and other friends went to Naki Police Station, reported her disappearance, and returned the baby to Agnes’ sister.
For a few days, AGNES’s friends have found her. At Lions Court, the watchman said there was a “big fight” in one of the hotel rooms and the window was broken.
Nearly three months later, Agnes’ body was found in a septic tank near the hotel. She stabbed. My friend B and other friends went to the spirit room to see Agnes’ body.
Friends B said, “I felt terrible.” I couldn’t imagine this could happen. “
It will take several years for Agnes Wanjiru to attract more attention.
Judge Kenyan, Judge Njeri Thuku, concluded in 2019 after investigating that Agnes was killed by one or two British soldiers. Sunday Times said that it is well known among the military’s killings of Agnes, who are suspected of being suspected of British soldiers. The publication reported that the soldier was in the army but continued to live freely in England.
“I believe there are many people responsible for Agnes’ death,” he said. “Many people know what happened and many people have covered it.”
The democracy was rebuilt in 2024 that the British army was not disciplined for sexually soldiers despite the fact that the British troops were forbidden in 2022, even though they were forbidden in 2022.
As a result, internal investigations were triggered in August 2025, and some soldiers of this base are still involved in transactions with women, and many of them are vulnerable, forced or trafficked by sexual labor.
In April of this year, Defense Minister John Healey, Secretary of Defense, met with Agnes’ family in Kenya, expressed his condolences and issued a statement that the British government would continue to do everything that would help the family to secure a qualified definition.
On September 16, the Kenya High Court issued a warrant for arrests for the British people suspected of killing Agnes Wanjor.
This is the first time that serving or former British soldiers were first dispatched abroad for a civilian murder.
Kelvin Kubai, a lawyer at the African Correction and Prevention Action Center, says it is a “positive stage toward the arch of justice.” “But considering the legal obstacles of Indian litigation, the battle has not yet won, and we hope that government agencies in two states will continue to cooperate to meet the end of justice.”
Esther Njoki, the nephew of Agnes, created a Gofundme page to support family, travel to the UK, and create more perceptions of murders of aunt.
Esther added, “We must promote financial security for Agnes’ daughter.”
And Agnes’ friends agree that justice has been delayed too long.
“The British can’t ignore our friend’s murder,” he says. “We want to define Agnes and her daughter.”
The BBC asked the Pentagon to comment.
