According to a new report released by VC company Andressen Horowitz (A16Z) on Thursday, Openai’s flagship AI chatbot, CHATGPT, has returned to solid growth in late 2024. In November 2023, it took nine months to increase the CHATGPT to 220 million people in August 2024, but it took less than six months to double again.
Immediately after the release of the study in November 2022, CHATGPT became the fastest app to reach 100 million monthly active users in two months.
By November 2023, CHATGPT reached another milestone of 100 million weekly active users, which increased to 300 million by December 2024.
According to the A16z, the initial consumer demand for CHATGPT was made by novelty. In other words, consumers were interested in trying the app, but they didn’t have to be sure how they were suitable for everyday life.
However, recent growth in CHATGPT relates to the footsteps of the launch of new models and functions, including the launch of GPT-4O, which adds multimoe functions. Immediately after the model was released, the use of CHATGPT surged from April to May 2024.
Later, after the arrival of the high -end voice mode, the use increased again from July to August 2024. The O1 Model series increased its usage from September to October 2024.
The growth of CHATGPT in Mobile is more consistent, the company pointed out.
The CHATGPT mobile app users increased by 15% from 5% last month, and a total of 400 million active users of 175 million CHATGPTs are now accessing the app on the mobile device.
The report also investigates the impact of rivals such as DeepSeek. The app surged in just 10 days, ranking second in the world, ranking second in mobile in February and 15%of Chatgpt’s mobile users.
According to data from the mobile intelligence provider’s sensor tower, Deepseek users are embarrassed and are slightly more involved than Claude users. But it is still inferior behind Chatgpt on this wire.
Other results of the new market analysis include tools for AI developers and coders, ranks of TOP GEN AI apps throughout the category and top AI app ranking, mobile and web as a whole.
In front of the latter, CHATGPT cited the data from the Market Intelligence provider that it would be number one as a unique monthly visitor and mobile active user on the web.
