A new court submission of the AI copyright case for META has previously added trust and reports that the company provides educational data for some creation AI models by discussing a book publisher about license transactions.
This submission is Kadrey V. It is related to the case of the Meta platform. One of the many cases is crumpled to the author and other intellectual property holders through the US court system. In most cases, in this case, the defendant (AI company) insisted that the training of copyrighted content is “fair use.” Copyright holders (copyright holders) did not agree.
A new submission submitted to the court on Friday suggests that a specific meta employee, including a partial copy of the meta employees taken by a lawyer for the manuscript of the case, could not negotiate the AI education data license.
According to a report card, SY Chowhury, who leads Meta’s AI partnership initiative, said that the volunteer work of Meta’s various publishers received “very slow intake of participation and interest.”
Choudhury said, “I don’t remember the entire list, but I remember writing a long list by searching for the Internet of Top Publishers, et Cetera. -I try to contact you in many cold call promotion. ”
Choudhury added:
According to the Court of Statement, Meta paused its efforts to license specific AI -related books in early April 2023 after “timing” and other logistics frustration. Choudhury said some publishers, especially novel book publishers, do not have the right to consider the license according to the report card.
“In the novel category, we quickly learned that most publishers we are talking about in the business development team represent that they do not actually have license rights. Choudhury said. “So it will take a long time to interact with all the author.”
Choudhury pointed out that during his sediment, the meta paused license efforts related to the development of AI in at least one other case.

This complaint also accuses Meta for using the “Shadow Library”, which includes pirated e -books to train the company’s AI model, including the “Open” model of the popular LLAMA series. According to the complaints, META may have secured some libraries through rapids.
