As part of its enforcement efforts, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sends warning letters to agencies under its jurisdiction. Some letters are not posted publicly until weeks or months after they are sent. Employers must respond to an FDA warning letter within 15 days. Warning letters are often not issued until the company has had months or years to resolve the problem. Portions of letters are often redacted so they cannot be viewed by the public.

The FDA has issued warning letters to three food importers for serious violations of Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) regulations for failing to ensure that imported food was produced in compliance with U.S. food safety standards.
