Jofra Archer marked his hundredth debut wicket as Southern Brave eased past London Spirit in a men's match at Southampton on Wednesday night.

The England bowler, who missed the first three overs of the tournament due to injury, dismissed Andre Russell for just one ball after the West Indian bowler took six runs in the match which the Braves won by seven wickets in the utility bowl.

Archer took figures of 1-24 from 20 balls as the Brave restricted the Spirit to 138-9, with Craig Overton taking 3-16 from 20 balls while Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills took two wickets each.

Southern Brave beat London Spirit by seven wickets.

London Spirit 138-9 from 100 balls: Liam Dawson (45, 0 off 19 balls), Dan Lawrence (38 off 30 balls); Craig Overton (3-16 off 20 balls)

Southern Brave 139-3 (89 balls): James Vince (56 off 35 balls), Daniel Hughes (45 off 30 balls); Dan Lawrence (1-13 off 10 balls), Ravi Bopara (1-20 off 15 balls), Nathan Ellis (1-23 off 20 balls)

Braves reached their target in 89 balls as captain James Vince (56 off 35 balls) and opening partner Daniel Hughes (45 off 30 balls) scored 95 runs off 58 balls.

James Vince scored 65 runs off 35 balls to help Southern Brave beat London Spirit in The Hundred.

Liam Dawson was Spirit's top scorer with 45 runs from 19 balls, including a six and two fours off the last three balls of the innings bowled by Jordan.

Spirit lost Adam Rossington in the third ball of the match (caught by Overton off the bowling of left-wing spinner James Coles) and were leading 95-7 from 80 balls before Dawson came on.

Archer said he expected “baby steps” to full fitness by the end of the year.

The Hundred continues on Thursday. Manchester Originals take on Welsh Fire at Emirates Old Trafford.
