The Iran war turned the Middle East’s dream into a nightmare for Asian migrant workers.

The region hosts 24 million migrant workers, making it the world’s leading overseas labor destination, according to the International Labor Organization (ILO). Most of them are from Asia, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Indonesia. The ILO says many of these workers have low-paying or precarious jobs and have little access to benefits such as health care.
