The highly anticipated interoperable blockchain game Illuvium has launched on the Epic Games Store. Players can download the game client from Epic Games, watch a cinematic introduction, and complete the tutorial.

The game's developer released three related games on the Epic Games Store, branding them as “official game releases” after a play-to-play campaign and airdrop.

Game Details

The game is based on the Ethereum scaling network Immutable X and consists of three titles: Illuvium Overworld, Illuvium Arena, and Illuvium Zero. The titles span three distinct genres but are interconnected to allow players to fully immerse themselves. Illuvium Overworld is an open-world survival game. Players must gather resources to repair a stranded ship. Players will also encounter Illuvials, mythical creatures native to the Illuvium universe that players can hunt and capture.

Players can also craft special equipment and unique items to help them navigate the open world. They can also complete missions, connect with other players in real time, share their discoveries, and learn about events. Illuvium Arena offers players the opportunity to engage in strategic combat against other players. It also offers a variety of game modes, such as Ascendant (1v1 combat), Survival Mode (PvE challenge), and Gauntlet Mode (8-player free-for-all).

The last of the three is Illuvium Zero, where players must establish and manage outposts to produce food, fuel, and other resources essential for exploration. Players can also unlock blueprints and new technologies that help them improve their equipment and adapt to the environment. They can also trade blueprints with other players.

Airdrop Campaign

The official launch comes after a Play to Airdrop campaign that incentivized players to check out the game’s beta test. Players can earn airdrop points by participating in the open beta test, with some rewards being distributed in June. However, the airdrop campaign will continue for another six months, with players able to earn a share of the 180,000 $ILV reward pool by completing in-game tasks and milestones. The campaign will distribute 30,000 $ILV each season.

Game Updates

The game developers also plan to release ongoing updates, special events, and new content based on community feedback. According to the official roadmap, Illuvium has been in development for several years and began raising funds in Q4 2020. The developers then created an early prototype of the game and transitioned to the Unreal Engine platform in the same quarter.
