A teenager from California won the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee after three days of competition at Constitution Hall in Washington.
Shrey Parikh faced Ishaan Gupta (12) in the final round. The pair had to spell as many words as possible in 90 seconds.
Shrey spelled 32 words correctly within the allotted time, and “cashaw”, a type of pumpkin, was declared the winning word.
