A mayor in the Philippines has survived a rocket launcher attack on his vehicle in broad daylight.
CCTV footage captured the moment one of the attackers opened fire on the SUV carrying Ampatuan Mayor Achmad Mitra, causing it to explode.
Ampatuan’s car is seen stopping briefly after the crash and driving away.
The mayor survived Sunday’s grenade attack, the municipality of Sharif Aguac said in a Facebook post, but two of his security guards were injured, according to GMA News in the Philippines.
At least three attackers were killed by police, according to media outlets.
The attack is the fourth attempted ambush on Ampatuan in recent years.
