Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in attacks across Iran by Israel and the United States that began Saturday morning local time.
Iranian state TV confirmed Khamenei’s death, reading a statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
The confirmation came after U.S. President Donald Trump said Khamenei had been killed and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Khamenei’s Tehran compound had come under a “strong and surprise attack.”
