Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos and Sundar Pichai are among powerful American tech leaders lined up to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, but Nvidia’s CEO won’t be joining them.
Reuters When asked if he would attend, Jensen Huang said he would instead celebrate Lunar New Year “on the road” with employees and their families.
Prime Minister Hwang said he would not attend the president-elect’s inauguration ceremony, but said, “I look forward to congratulating the Trump administration once he takes office.” Huang also told reporters outside Nvidia’s New Year’s party in Taipei that he discussed increasing production of Nvidia’s advanced Blackwell artificial intelligence chips with Chung Ching Wei, chairman of TSMC, a major supplier to Nvidia.
Nvidia is estimated to occupy 90% of the AI chip market share. The company criticized a new AI framework announced by the Biden administration last week that would limit the number AI chip companies can send to different countries. In a blog post, Nvidia praised the looser regulatory environment implemented by the first Trump administration and said it looked forward to “a return to policies that strengthen American leadership.”
