The Japanese police said the old man killed by a bear was actually stabbed by his son.
The 51 -year -old Fujiyuki Shindo was arrested on Tuesday for murdering 93 -year -old Fujiyoshi in northern Akita Prefecture.
The police sent a bear attack warning after discovering that the victim’s wife collapsed and bleeded on the floor. But the investigator withdrew after concluding that the wound was more consistent with the knife injury.
In the northern part of Japan, which means that aging population and reduced farmland are expanding their habitat closer to the human population, bears are increasingly common.
Kyodo news agency said to the police that Sindo, who lived with his parents, first noticed the unusual thing at home.
JIJI Press reported that investigators tried to seize several knives and identify murder weapons at their families.
They did not motivate murder.
The bears were initially believed to blame the death of Fujiyoshi Shinto. This is because Japan has increased bear attacks in recent years. 219 people were attacked from 12 months to March 2024, and six of them died, the Ministry of Environment said.
In July, newspaper deliverymen were killed by brown bears in residential areas.
As the encounter of the bear increased, the authorities could easily relax the hunting methods for people to shoot bears more easily.
Thousands of bears were recently trapped and killed by hunters.
