It is a difficult suggestion to build an app that helps people aggregate and read news, articles and social media posts in one place. Smashing, an AI -based app that can cue to the news and posts you want to read, seems to end because it cannot expand quickly.
“We did not grow quickly so quickly that we could not expand it into a sustainable product.
OTIS CHANDLER, the founder of Goodreads, started SMASHING in June and used AI and community to quurate news articles, blog posts, podcasts and social media posts around the web. Through this app, the user follows his interests, submits content, and votes on the proposed content to show relevance. There was also a bot that could answer AI drive summary and questions.
The company said in an email that seven employees are working on the product. Smashing raised $ 3.4 million in funds from True Ventures, BlockChange, Offline Ventures, Advancit Capital, N Ventures and some Angel Investors.
Thankfully, many startups on the problem have been solved. We have not only AI -based news readers such as Bulletin and Particle, but also feed aggris apps such as FEEED, TAPESTRY and Reeder.
Smashing’s closure comes after the co -founders of Instagram closed the AI -based news app artifact last year and eventually sell the technology to Yahoo.
