Te Araroa is a 3,000km continuous walking trail that stretches across New Zealand from Cape Reinga in the north to the Buff in the south! Walking it in its entirety can take more than 120 days, but travelers can choose to cover sections lasting anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Te Araroa connects settlements, villages and cities. It encourages social and economic transactions during travel, while allowing travelers to experience New Zealand's natural beauty first-hand, unencumbered by the craziness and gadgets of the modern age. The border of Te Araroa is New Zealand's own natural border. It begins and comes to a natural halt with the sea in the background. Along the way, explore New Zealand's tombolos, volcanoes, mountain ranges, highlands, rivers, lakes and valleys. Successful long-distance trails abroad typically have geographic and geological unity.
