Manus AI is one of the most popular AI agent new companies, raising $ 75 million in $ 5 billion in the recent rounds led by benchmarks.
However, two sources without names told SEMAFO that the US Treasury was considering investing in the rules for the 2023 restrictions on Chinese companies.
SEMAFOR’s lawyers have summarized investments that Manus is not technically developing its own AI model, but “packaging” around the existing model.
The lawyers also concluded that Manus was not based in China because Manus was integrated into the Cayman Islands. (This is a common structure used by Chinese companies like Alibaba to access foreign capital.)
The benchmark has aroused criticism of the founder fund partner, Delian Asparouhov’s Manus Investment.
Benchmarks, Manus and Treasury did not immediately respond to requests.
