US police say a shooting suspect attending the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was carrying multiple weapons when he showed up at a security checkpoint.
Surveillance video released by Donald Trump shows the suspect running past a metal detector while a security guard draws his gun.
Washington, D.C., Police Chief Jeffrey W. Carroll said officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect and that one U.S. Secret Service officer was “in shock with his vest on.” He was taken to the hospital and is said to be in “good condition.”
The suspect, whom police called a ‘lone gunman’, was not hit by gunfire but was taken to the hospital and is being investigated.
