
UN Humanitarian Secretary-General Tom Fletcher warned that the war in Iran and the wider region was having a “devastating impact” on civilians, describing it as a “moment of profound and grave danger”.
He also expressed concern about the “second-order impacts” of the violence, saying the conflict risked increasing extremism and polarization in the Middle East and beyond.
“We need to step back from the brink now,” he told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg.
