LG will be showing off two all-in-one “lifestyle projectors” at CES. This means that while it looks great when it’s off, when it’s on it doesn’t offer the best picture quality for the money. Both run on webOS and offer ample support for your favorite streaming apps.
The PF600U is three devices in one, combining a simple full HD projector with a Bluetooth speaker and a standing floor lamp. It weighs 7.5 kg (16 pounds 8 ounces) and features two speakers of unknown spectrum and an LED lamp with nine colors and five brightness levels.
The projector rotates with a 110-degree tilt head with automatic screen adjustment, allowing you to quickly and easily fine-tune the projected image as you move the lamp around the room. Please note that it can only produce a brightness of 300 ANSI lumens. That said, a 1920 x 1080 image won’t look very good unless you’re viewing it in blackout conditions.
The CineBeam S (model PU615U) is a very small (4.3 x 6.3 x 6.3 inches/110 x 160 x 160 mm) ultra-short throw projector that can be positioned a few inches from a wall. Even better, it has ALR (Ambient Light Cancellation). Screen — Generates huge 4K images from a laser (RGB) light source. It has integrated stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. And while it may produce a slightly brighter 500 ANSI lumen image, it will still look washed out if you have to contend with the ambient lighting in the room.
LG hasn’t announced any useful information, such as pricing, release date, or country of release. Perhaps the company wants to keep everyone on their toes when it makes its first public demonstration in Las Vegas starting next week.
